Alice Elizabeth Bowles

Alice Elizabeth Bowles, age 101 of Chesterfield passed away on Tuesday, July 19, 2022. She was born on January 19, 1921 a daughter of the late James Edward Bowles and Margaret Baker Bowles and she was also preceded in death by her brothers; Clyde, James and Judson Bowles; The father of her children George Law; Daughter-in-Law; Linda Law; Brother-in-Law; William Reynolds; Grandchildren; Duane, Darryl and Dawn Law. Survived by Daughter, Becky Morrison (Randy); Son, Bill Law; Grandchildren; Mike Walker, Meg Camden, Daren Law, Drew Law; (six) Great-Grandchildren; (eight) Great-Great-Grandchildren; Brother; Kenneth Bowles (Betty); Sisters; Dot Reynolds, Alma Cunningham (Ed), Judy Pence (Dick); Sisters-in-Law, Janie Lee Bowles, and Virginia Bowles; nine nephews; and 10 nieces. She is also survived by Special friends, Amelia Brinson, Darlene Barker, Joyce Hill; Close Cousin; Susan Kirkman. As with all mom’s and grandmom’s her family meant everything to her, she was especially proud when the 5th generation was born. Retired from DuPont in 1974 after 27 years of service. A self-taught seamstress she made clothes for her children and slacks & blouses for many of the ladies she worked with at DuPont. She took up quilting later in life following in the footsteps of her ancestors. She made quilts for many members of the family including all her siblings, children, and grandchildren through the 5th generation. She loved flowers, cooking, quilting and watching golf on TV. Many more great and loving things can be said about her life but impossible to cover in just a few words. Her family will receive friends on Thursday, July 28, 2022, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Bennett Funeral Home, 14301 Ashbrook Parkway, Chesterfield, VA 23832. Her funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 31, 2022, at Conner-Bowman Funeral Home, 62 VA Market Place Drive, Rocky Mount, VA 24151 with Pastor Rick Poland officiating. Interment will follow in The Mount Carmel Baptist Church Cemetery, Rocky Mount, VA.
