Charles Allen McBride age 81 of Penhook left for his Heavenly home on Wednesday, January 22, 2020 at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital.
Allen was born in Franklin County on March 8, 1938 a son of the late Charlie and Goldie McBride. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his sisters, Ruby McBride (Wade) and their son, Leonard McBride, Leatrice Barbour (Melvin); brothers-in-law, Ira Smith and Raymond Maxey.
He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Lilly McBride; his daughters, Lucinda Castaneda and her close friend, Jimmy Jones, Teresa Poindexter (Thomas); sisters, Dorothy Smith and Elizabeth Maxey; grandchildren, Ken (Christy), Charles (Morgan), Cynthia, Heather (Cassi), Tabitha and Chelsea (Andy); great-grandchildren, Heather, Ryan, Riley, Kaitlyn, Hunter and Adalyn; his great-great-grandchild, Tinsley. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, other family members and friends.
Allen retired from Local Carpenters Union 319 and was an avid Mandolin player and loved playing with the Dairy Queen Band. He will be missed by all.
Funeral services will be conducted from Lynch Conner-Bowman Funeral Chapel (Town Chapel) 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 25, 2020 with Ted Clifton, Minister and Wayne Keith, Minister officiating. Interment will follow in Forrest Hill Christian Church Cemetery. His family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, January 24, 2020 at the funeral home and other times at the home of his daughter Teresa Poindexter.
