Andy Anderson

Everett Fulton (“Pete” “Andy”) Anderson, age 79 of Callaway passed away Wednesday, February 19, 2014 in a Roanoke Hospital. His life-long dream as a child was to become a truck driver, a dream that became a reality for him having given over 50 years of his life doing what he loved to do. He retired from Smith Transfer. Pete was very proud of his sons and was an avid hunter and loved his country music. Andy was born August 6, 1934 a son of the late George W. and Nannie Carrine Hannah Anderson. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Gatha Bernard Anderson; siblings, Edna Anderson, Hubert, Bob, Richard Anderson, Charlene Anderson, Hazel A. Moore, James Anderson, Jannis A. Bolken and Shirley A. Wray. He was also preceded in death by his special friend and hunting buddy James (Cookie) Hodges. Surviving are his sons, George W. Anderson and friend, Emily Mink, David W. Anderson and companion, Sara Jones; his four grandsons, Christian W. Anderson, N. Austin Anderson, Logan A. Anderson and Avery L. Anderson, all of Houston, Texas; very special friend and companion, Alice Young; sister, Hilda A. Wright; stepchildren, Mark Minnix, Sharon Stuart, Dawn McDowell and her former husband, Michael Simmons; step granddaughter, Katie Simmons; four additional step grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren; a number of other relatives and friends. Also surviving are his Brothers-in-Law, Billy Moore, Olaf Bolken, Ronnie Wray; Sisters-in-Law, Marie Anderson, Gladys Anderson; Special Friends and Hunting Buddies, Ron Ayers and Brian Odum. Funeral services will be conducted from Conner-Bowman Funeral Chapel 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 24, 2014 with Dr. Brian Swafford officiating. Interment will follow in Pigg River Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family has requested memorial contributions be made to Callaway Volunteer Fire and Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 44, Callaway, Virginia 24067. His Family will receive friends Sunday, February 23, 2014 from 2 – 5 p.m. at Conner-Bowman Funeral Home, Route 220 at Wirtz Road, Rocky Mount.
