Genoa Ann “Noa-Ann” Wray, 79 of Rocky Mount passed away Thursday, April 21, 2011. Mrs. Wray retired from DuPont with 31 ½ years of service and Fork Mountain Rest Home where she worked for over 10 years, a job she dearly loved, and was a member of Woodlawn Baptist Church. She was born October 4, 1931, a daughter of the late Noah and Bertha Robertson Aldridge and was preceded in death by her husband John M. “Shangie” Wray; and a son Jackie D. Wray. Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law, Johnny and Susan Wray; special daughter-in-law, Connie P. Wray; her grandchildren, Stephanie and Taw Hodges, Brittany Michelle Wray, Jace and Andrea Wray and Jade Kelli Wray; great-grandchildren, Clayton and Alison Hodges, Tanner Wray-Dudley; step-grandson, Will and Jamie Wilson; step-great-grandchildren, Daniel, Amelia and Graceann Wilson. She is also survived by her special cousins, considered the “Golden Girls”, Zenith Lawrence, Blandy Frettful and Patty Martin. Funeral services will be conducted from Woodlawn Baptist Church 11 a.m. Monday, April 25, 2011 with Rev. Eddie Hawks officiating. Interment will follow in Franklin Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial contributions be made to Woodlawn Baptist Church, 30 Woodlawn Drive, Rocky Mount, Virginia 24151. Her family will receive friends Sunday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Lynch Conner-Bowman Funeral Home, 140 Floyd Avenue, Rocky Mount.
