Annabell Hodges

Annabell Hodges Hodges, age 81 of Vinton went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 8, 2015. She was born December 30, 1933, the daughter of the late Wilford and Evelyn Wray Hodges of Boones Mill. She was also preceded in death by her father-in-law & mother-in-law Lawrence & Elsie Hodges of Callaway; & her husband of 53 years James William Hodges, who also died on July 8, eight years ago. She retired from Verizon Telephone Company with 38 years of service. She also worked for Atlantic and Pacific Telephone Company (ATPAC) for several years. She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America and served as secretary for five years. Annabell and James enjoyed life. They enjoyed bowling, camping and riding their motorcycle. They made a lot of great friends and memories through the years. Annabell is survived by two sisters Christeen Hartman (Ray), Marilyn Donahue (Leonard); brother Ray Hodges (Shirley), two aunts Martha Stilwell & Helen Maro; nieces & nephews Alan Hartman (Diane), Stanley Donahue, Charles Hodges (Shelley), Serina Bailey, Dale Hartman (Kathy) and Marie Britton (Larry); 11 great nieces and great nephews; several in-laws; special friend Dan Gunter and his family, Sherry McBride, Danny Gunter, and Redge Gunter. Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to Monte Vista Church of the Brethren Memorial Fund, 25 Wades Gap Rd., Callaway, VA 24067. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 15, 2015 at Monte Vista Church of the Brethren with Pastors Barry Sink and Dan Rudy officiating. Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery.
