Anthony “Tony” Dillard, 42, of Boones Mill passed away June 6, 2017. He was preceded in death by his grandparents Julian and Frances Dillard. Left to cherish many memories are his wife, Kristin and his three children, Kaitlin, Julian, and Grayson. Also surviving are his parents, Jeff and Patty Dillard; sister Erin as well as many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and coworkers.
As a teenager, Tony participated in Civil Air Patrol and after graduating high school, served as a tanker in the United States Army. Upon discharge, he pursued a degree in information technology. His passion for helping others led him to the Roanoke County Sheriff’s Office where he served as a Deputy for three years. Most recently, he was a valued systems engineer at Wurth Revcar Fasteners.
Tony was a kind, quiet soul who understood the value in listening more than speaking. He was a member of First Christian Church in Salem and was always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need. He was the family chef and made a mean Shepherd’s Pie. He took great pride in hosting family and friends for cook-outs and bonfires. He spent countless hours supporting his children in their team sports and activities. This included dance recitals, cheerleading competitions and even pageants with Kaitlin. He loved the outdoors, and one of his favorite places to be was at the ball field watching Julian and Grayson play baseball. He loved audio books and was an avid Washington Capitals fan, although most recently his truck could be seen sporting a Pittsburgh Penguins magnet as the result of losing a friendly wager with a co-worker.
In Celebration of Tony’s life, the family will receive friends from 1-2 PM Saturday with a memorial service following at 2:00 PM with Pastor Dan Netting and Rev. Neal Wheeler officiating at Conner-Bowman Funeral Home (Rt. 220 Chapel) 62 VA Market Place Drive, Rocky Mount, VA 24151…540-334-5151
