Arnold William Davis, age 92, of Ferrum, VA passed away Saturday, May 11, 2013. He was born April 9, 1921 in Dot, West Virginia the son of the late John William Davis and Della Craig Davis. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. His service to his country included CC Corp, World War II and the Korean War as a military policeman. He was a long-time member of the American Legion. He was preceded in death by his two wives, Frances Ross Davis and Inez Stroud Davis; and his daughter, Beteena Davis Woods. Surviving sons are, Joseph Davis and Anne of Roanoke, James Davis and Janet of Winchester, VA; daughter, Betty Davis McClaugherty of King, NC; step daughter, Sharon Thomas and Rusty of Thomasville, NC; eight grandchildren; two step grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren. Special THANKS to Brenda Newby, friends at the 77 Restaurant and Carilion Franklin Memorial Hospice. Graveside services will be conducted 1:00 P.M. Wednesday at the Slemp Cemetery, 220 Horne Hollow Road, Sugar Grove, VA, 24375 with Rev. W. B. Failes, Jr. officiating.
