Artamese Smithers Gusler

Artamese Smithers “Artie” Gusler, age 81, of Rocky Mount, VA passed away Wednesday, April 12, 2017 at her home. She was born December 14, 1935 the daughter of the late William Henry “Doogie” Smithers and Ruby Greer Smithers. Artie always believed “My family comes first” and she enjoyed daylilies, irises, birds but her favorite was the hummingbirds and bluebirds; also butterflies and poetry. Surviving are her husband, Tommie Lee Gusler; daughter, Robin Gusler Hunley and Darrell; sisters, Chela Holsolaw, Helene Angle and Eddie, Faye Pasley, Teresa Smithers, Elaine Gilley and Joe; grandchildren, Tia Hunley Buchanan and Hubert, Teri Hunley-Woolwine and Edward, Toni Hunley Gray and Shawn; great grandchildren, Dionte Collins, Devalyn Hunley, Taja Hunley, Braylon Burton, Clay Woolwine, Aylon Woolwine, Trevor Gray, Jesse Gentry, Abbigal Gentry. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 P.M Saturday at Lynch Conner Bowman Funeral Home with Dr. Jackie Spence officiating. Interment will follow in Franklin Memorial Park.
