Barbara Bowling Arrington

Barbara Bowling Arrington, age 80, of Rocky Mount, Va, passed away peacefully at home with her family by her side on August 22 , 2017. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt & friend. She was preceded in death by her parents, Glen and Larmie Bowling (Ingram), step-father, Fred Ingram, and her nephew, Max Frye. She is survived by her loving husband of sixty-one years, Lee A. Arrington, her daughter, Shelia (Arrington) Jacoby, son-in-law, Mark, and grandchildren, Blake, Olivia, Molly and Mattie, all of Windermere, Florida. Her son, Mark A. Arrington and his girlfriend, Bobbi J. Simmers of Roanoke, Va.; her five sisters & their spouses, Carol Woods (Billy), Maxine Drewry & Buddy Guilliams, Linda Frye (George), Donna Quinn, and Mitzi Austin (Jim). Her nieces and nephews, Dr. James Drewry, Philip Drewry & Alex Silva, Sarah (Drewry) & Brent Hill, Debbie (Woods) & Mike Elkins, Stephanie (Quinn) & Shannon Burton, & Nicholette (Austin) & A.J. Vassallo. Great nieces and nephews, Haley Frye, Sydney Burton, Allen & Cameron Hill, Brad & Erica Elkins & Mason, Lilly, Gracie & Axel Vassallo. Brother-in-laws, Ray T. Conner (Karen) & Roy Conner (Ida). She was loved and cherished by her family and friends and was a faithful member of Franklin Heights Baptist Church for over fifty years. She accepted her liver cancer diagnosis with courage and peace, never complaining or questioning God's plan. She not only taught those around her how to live, she showed them more importantly how to die without fear and the peace that came with knowing Jesus as her Lord & Savior. A Memorial Service will be conducted from Franklin Heights Baptist Church Friday, August 25, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. J. Larry Holland and Dr. Stan Parris officiating.
