Barbara Hale

Barbara Hale, age 77 of Glade Hill, died at her home Thursday, March 8, 2012, after a battle with cancer. She was born in Panschwitz, Croswitz, Germany on December 23, 1934 to the late Richard Franz and Emma Maria Lauschke Wagner. Barbara came to the United States in 1954 and got her citizenship right away. She was a greeter with Wal-Mart. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by eleven brothers and sisters. She is survived by her daughter, Ellen Christine “Chris” Hale Cooper and her husband Henry “Rocky” Cooper; a grand-daughter, two great-grandsons and two great-grand-daughters all of Rocky Mount, VA. She is also survived by a sister Christa W. Beckmann, of Templin, Germany, and by a number of nieces, nephews (great and grand) in the United States and Germany. Her family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the SPCA, 1340 Baldwin Ave. NE, Roanoke, VA 24012. Funeral services will be conducted from Lynch Conner-Bowman Funeral Chapel 2:00 p.m. Sunday, March 11, 2012 with Dr. Jackie Spence officiating. Interment will follow at the Hale Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Saturday at Lynch Conner-Bowman Funeral Home, 140 Floyd Avenue, Rocky Mount, VA. 483-5533
