Barbara Matherly

Barbara Matherly, age 74, of Rocky Mount, passed away on Tuesday, September 17, 2013. She was born the daughter of the late Taylor and Annie Hall on April 7, 1939. She was also preceded in death by three sons; Sammy, Kenny, and Gary Matherly; two brothers, Henry Hall, J.W. Hall; and two sisters, Mattie Hodges and Adeline Weaver. Barbara was employed at Carilion Health Systems from September 11, 2001 until November of 2008. She loved working in her flowers and garden. Her most favorite was spending time with family and watching her Great-Grandbabies grow up. She is survived by her Daughter, Donna Brubaker; Daughter-in-Law, Dena King; two Grandsons, Sammy “Monk” Matherly and wife Kim Matherly, Dylan Brubaker, one Granddaughter, Connor “Bug” Matherly; two Great-Grandsons, Paxton “Pax” Matherly, Nicholas “Nik” Brubaker; one Great-Granddaughter, McKinleigh “KiKi” Brubaker; step great grandsons Logan Fulcher, Austin McDaniel; Brothers, Junior Hall (Betty), James Hall (Louise); Sisters, Doris Hall, Louise Hodges (Gordon); and Numerous nieces and nephews. Special thanks to Amedisy’s Hospice of Salem; Nurses; Kim, Cindy, and Jenn; CNA and long time friend Sarah; and to the Staff at Carilion Franklin Memorial Hospital. Funeral Service will be held at Furnace Creek Baptist Church 2pm Thursday, September 19 with Minister Mickey Witcher and Chaplain Troy Mays officiating. Interment will follow at Franklin Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Conner-Bowman Funeral Home, Route 220 at Wirtz Road, Rocky Mount, Virginia. 540-334-5151
