Barry Kemplin Blankenship, “Papa” (65)

Born in Rocky Mount, VA on October 12, 1959, died in his home in Boones Mill, VA on October 21, 2024. Barry was an avid hunter, camping enthusiast, and loved spending time with his family. He was a happily retired mechanical superintendent of GJ Hopkins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry Junior and Bonnie Juanita Blankenship.

He leaves behind to honor his memory an extensive family including five siblings; Veronica and husband WK Webster, Connie and husband Paul Phipps, Rosemary and husband Ronnie Sigmon, Harry and wife Darlene Blankenship, June and late husband, Eddie Reves, as well as a multitude of nieces and nephews; three children; Mike and wife Becky Blankenship, Amy Blankenship and fiancé Stephen Sipe, and Beth Blankenship and fiancé Josh Sink, as well as eight grandchildren; Skyla and husband Winston Kelly, Lilly Cane and fiancé Finn Kerr, Hunter, Mali, Izzy, Luke, Levi, Ana. He was extremely excited for his soon to arrive great-granddaughter, Primrose Kerr. His beloved dogs, Bear and Laya, will cherish their walks, talks, cuddles, and always shared meals! He had many lifelong friendships, from grade school, all the way through his retirement. Some special friendships include Roger Custer, Betsy Gail Stanley, Blaine Walters, Rendy Agee, Lenny DiGiovonni, Greg Velazquez, Chuck Moore, and Troy Armstrong.

Remembrance Gathering will be held at Conner-Bowman Funeral Home and Crematory at 62 VA Market Place, Rocky Mount, VA on Friday, October 25, 2024, 4 – 7 PM.
