Beatrice Angelia Hunt Naff

July 27, 1933 — February 8, 2015

Beatrice Angelia Hunt Naff, who was born on July 27th, 1933 and who passed away on Sunday, February 8th, was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother; a good citizen; and a fine professional. As a wife, mother and grandmother, she is especially remembered for her family Thanksgiving feasts and Christmas breakfasts. As a wife she supported her husband throughout his vocations as an educator and farmer and helped him establish what eventually became through her husband’s leadership efforts, The W. W. Naff, Jr. World Hunger Auction at Antioch Church of the Brethren. As a citizen she served as a Cub Scout leader, worked for the American Lung Association, and remained involved in politics. Late in life, as a professional, within her son’s Meadow Spring Land and Realty Company, she served as an award-winning agent, inspiring all who worked there. As a young lady, Angelia Hunt Naff was an active member within Rocky Mount United Methodist Church. She graduated from Franklin County High School in 1951 and was proud to have been a cheerleader within the school’s first cheer team. She also attended Emory and Henry College and remained a life-long learner. Angelia was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Wesley W. Naff, Jr. of 43 years; her parents, George and Evelyn Hunt, of Burnt Chimney, and her in-laws Wesley and Ethel Naff, Sr. of Boones Mill, Virginia; her dear sisters Edith Barnhart of Harrisonburg and Bonnie Ciccone of Norfolk; brothers-in-law, Shelby Green of Callaway; Peter C. Snyder, of Blacksburg and Charles Heath of Roanoke; and nephews, Jeff Taylor, Robert Stevens, and Johnny Green. Angelia is survived by her children Wes Naff III of Callaway and Wanda Davis; Dr. Bea Bailey of Pickens, South Carolina; Abe Naff of Ferrum; Dr. Neal Naff of Baltimore, Maryland; and Mary Ellen Philpott of Boones Mill; her daughters and sons-in-law, Mickey Naff of Boones Mill, Rick Bailey of Pickens, South Carolina; Terri Naff of Ferrum; and Dr. Ben Philpott of Boones Mill. She is also blessed with grandchildren who were the light of her life: Jacob, Hunter, Lacey and Laurie Naff; Jessi and Casey Naff; and Emily, Molly and Nellie Philpott. Angelia is also survived by her dear sisters Joyce Heath of Roanoke; Reba Taylor of Rocky Mount; and Georgia Anne Snyder-Falkinham, of Blacksburg; and two dear brothers, George and Charles Hunt of Burnt Chimney and her in-laws Dr. Al and Karen Ciccone of Norfolk; Richard Barnhart of Harrisonburg; Dr. Joe Falkinham of Blacksburg; and Anne Hunt and Sandy Hunt of Burnt Chimney. On her husband’s side she is survived by her in-laws: Rosemary and Bob Stevens of Hayesville, North Carolina; Rebecca Green of Boones Mill; Dr. Russell and Betsy Davis of Radford; Gary and Virginia Cooper of Fort Mill, South Carolina; and Dr. Gretchen Naff of Black Mountain, North Carolina. Angelia was blessed as well by 55 nieces and nephews; 54 great-nieces and great-nephews; and 4 great-great-nieces and nephews. To honor the life of Angelia Naff, the family will receive friends Tuesday evening, February 10th, 2015 from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Conner Bowman Funeral Home (Rt. 220 Chapel) 62 Virginia Marketplace Dr., Rocky Mount, Virginia 24151 and throughout the week at the family home, Meadow Spring Farm, on Retreat Road. On Wednesday, February 11th, 2015 at 11:00 a.m., there will be a celebration at Antioch Church of the Brethren with a dinner afterwards in the Fellowship Hall. The church is located on Callaway Road, Rocky Mount, Virginia 24151. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to The Wesley W.
