Benjamin Spates Howard

Howard Spates “Ben” Howard, age 67 of Moneta passed away on Friday, March 17, 2017 in Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital after a long battle with Lung Cancer. Ben retired from Southern States after 20 years of service and worked with MetWood for 12 years. He was born June 10, 1949 a son of the late John W. and Sarah Turner Howard. He was also preceded in death by his Siblings, Johnny R. Howard and Helen H. Faulkner. Surviving are his wife, Mazie Marie Howard; siblings, Sylvia Odom (Johnny), Dunn, NC, Joseph E. Howard, Vass, NC; three nieces and two nephews. Funeral services will be conducted from Conner-Bowman Funeral Home Chapel 2 p.m. Monday, March 20, 2017 with Pastor Ed Sheehan officiating. Interment will follow in Monte Vista Church of the Brethren Cemetery.
