Betty Jean Mitchell Hodges

Betty Jean Mitchell Hodges, age 79 of Rocky Mount and formerly of Roanoke passed away Tuesday, July 22, 2014 in Roanoke Memorial Hospital. She was born on July 25, 1934 a daughter of the late Walker and Gladys Mitchell. Betty lived most of her adult life in Roanoke, Virginia and for the past six years, she has been a resident of Fork Mountain Rest Home. Surviving are her son, Mike (Brenda) Hodges; two grandsons, Brian (Lauren) Hodges and Mark Hodges; two brothers, M.T. (Audrey) Mitchell and Leland (Janet) Mitchell; two sisters, Daphne Woody and Mary Belle (Brooks) Thompson. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted from Beulah Baptist Church (4220 Sontag Road, Rocky Mount) 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 26, 2014 with Rev. David Saleeba officiating. Interment will follow in the Mitchell Family Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends one hour prior to the service beginning at 10:00 a.m. at the church.
