Beulah Spencer

Beulah Mae Chitwood Spencer age 84 of Rocky Mount passed away on Friday, September 10, 2021, in Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital. She retired from Tultex with 40 years of faithful and dedicated service and then began her second career with Rocky Mount Walmart where she worked for many years proudly serving as one of their telephone operators. She was a member of Hodgesville Pentecostal Holiness Church and attended Woodlawn Baptist Church. Beulah was a people person and loved God and her family. She will be greatly missed by all. Beulah was born on December 7, 1936, a daughter of the late Robert Lee and Maggie Elizabeth Hall Chitwood. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Troy E. Spencer; three sons, David Spencer, Roger “Choo-Choo” Spencer and Doug Spencer; grandson, Brad Myers; sister, Betty Brown (Bill); sister-in-law, Yvonne Chitwood; brothers-in-law, Billy Bousman and Wayne Crews; one nephew, C. W. Bousman. She is survived by her daughter and special son-in-law, Deborah Kaye and Steve Myers; grandchildren, Sherry Clark, Rochelle Spencer and Rachel Spencer (Justen); her great-grandchildren, Taylor Myers, Bradley Myers, Broly Eubank and Hank Clark; her siblings, Naomi Bousman, Danny Chitwood (Sue), Billy Chitwood (Tracy), Sammy Chitwood (Pauline) and Sandra Faye Crews. She is also survived by many other family members and a host of friends. The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, please consider memorial contributions in Beulah’s name to: Woodlawn Baptist Church, 46 Woodlawn Drive, Rocky Mount, Virginia 24151. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Tuesday, September 14, 2021 at Conner-Bowman Funeral Home with Pastor Eddie Hawks officiating. Interment will follow in Sandy Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery where she will be laid to rest next to her husband. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service beginning at 1 p.m. at the funeral home and other times at Deborah and Steve’s home.
