Billy R. Oliver

Billy Reece Oliver, 85 of Rocky Mount (Snow Creek) went home to be with His Lord on Sunday, May 1, 2011. Mr. Oliver was a U.S. Army Veteran of WW II, recipient of The Bronze Star and Good Conduct Medal. He was born August 9, 1925 in Gary, West Virginia to the late Rufus Oliver and Nora Oliver Bowles. He was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Teresa Oliver; two brothers, Thomas and Vance Oliver; a sister, Zella Oliver Holt. He is survived by his faithful wife of 61 years, Cordie Marion Meeks Oliver of the home; three sons, Nelson Oliver (Brenda) of Kenbridge, Ricky Oliver, and Jeffrey Oliver (Patricia) of Rocky Mount; two grandsons, Nelson, Jr. and Josh; sister, Wilma Moore, Kennesaw, GA; half sister, Judy Kilpatrick, Augusta, GA; half brother, Kelvin Bowles, Moneta, VA; step-brother, James “Pete” Bowles, Danville, VA; Special care giver and friend, Mandy Roach; and special friend Marsha Dent. Funeral Services will be conducted from Lynch Conner-Bowman Funeral Chapel, 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, May 4, 2011 with Rev. Joe Taylor officiating. Interment will follow in Mount Carmel Baptist Church Cemetery. His family will receive friends Tuesday from 6 to 8 P.M. at Lynch Conner-Bowman Funeral Home, 140 Floyd Avenue, Rocky Mount, Virginia.
