Billy Wayne Southall

Billy Wayne Southall, age 71 of Boones Mill passed away Saturday, May 31, 2014 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Billy retired with 36 years 9 months of service as Deputy Chief of Operations for Roanoke City Fire EMS, a job and title that he was so very proud of. Born on July 3, 1942 a son of Mae Walters Southall and the late Horace E. Southall. He is survived by his loving wife, Ann Wray Southall; his children, Patty (Dwayne) Maddox, Betsy Dishner, Michael (Susan) Southall and Scott (Laura) Southall; his grandchildren, Haley, Ashley, Tyler, Evan, Sean, Henry and Mary Ellen. He is also survived by his brothers, Jimmy (Vickie) Southall, Timmy (Susan) Southall; brother-in-law, Haywood Wray; a number of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and many other family and friends. The family would like a say a special thanks to the staff of Blue Ridge Cancer Center, Good Samaritan Hospice, Dr. William Fintel, Dr. Anthony Lucas Loschner and a very special thanks to the Roanoke City Fire EMS and fellow firefighting friends. Funeral services will be conducted from Conner-Bowman Funeral Chapel 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 4, 2014 with Dr. Richard D. Harrell, Sr. officiating. Interment will follow in Mountain View Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Boones Mill Baptist Church Life Center, P.O. Box 230, Boones Mill, Virginia 24065.
