Buren Layne (B.L.) Furrow, Jr., 72 of Callaway, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, April 1, 2018. He was born February 2, 1946 to the late Buren Layne Furrow, Sr. and Era King Furrow. Excluding a few years he served in the Army during the Vietnam War, he lived his entire life in Callaway, VA. The Callaway community held a special place in his heart. He spent 47 years as a machinist for Fisher Auto Parts. Over the years, he acquired many friends in the automotive and racing industries. He loved bluegrass music and a great partner for a little “flat footing”.
Survivors include his partner and fiance’ for 23 years Alease Hatcher; sons Steven (Lettitia) Furrow and Matthew (Dana) Furrow; grandchildren Ethan, Benjamin, Rylan, and Emerson Furrow; sister Lynda (Henry) Messenger and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted from Lynch Conner-Bowman Funeral Home (Town Chapel) 11:00 a.m. Thursday with Chaplain Rick Poland officiating. Interment will follow in Pigg River Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. His family will be receiving friends from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at Lynch Conner-Bowman Funeral Home, 140 Floyd Ave, Rocky Mount.
