Carla Marie Long, May7, 1960-December 24, 2024, 64.
Passed away peacefully in the morning hours on Christmas Eve at her home on Smith Mountain Lake, Virginia with loved ones around her.
Carla was born in Mississippi and raised in Woodbridge, Virginia where she graduated Woodbridge High School in 1978. She went on to raise 3 children, attend National Business College, and pursued her career in accounting/bookkeeping. She spent the last 15+ years working for the AFGE, National Veterans Affairs Council. She was a loved and devoted staff member. She made many friends along the way. She took pride in her work knowing that her efforts impacted the lives of VA employees who selflessly care for our nations heroes.
Carla is survived by her children Lauren M. Voytko-Ventry (Derek), Jordan Long (Jennifer), Morgan Long (Carson), Mother Jean Voytko, Sister Patty Pierpont (Donny), Sister Stacie Thomas, Brother Troy Voytko (Lisa). She also leaves behind three grandchildren M. Cullen Ventry, Maggie Ventry, and Harper Long.
She is also preceded in death by Sister Neva Price, Brother Pete Voytko, John Harrison, and Father Paul Voytko.
She had a knack for seeming to be effortlessly good at almost anything she set her mind too. Going to school as a single mother. Wood working, renovating, furniture design, and thrifting. She was a loving, smart, devoted, one of kind woman. She will be missed as a mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend.
