Carmaleta Ruth Wood

Mrs. Carmaleta Ruth Wood “Carmie” formerly of Colonial Heights, VA, passed away Wednesday April 6, 2016 at the age of 95. Carmie was born on January 12, 1921 in Cape Girardeau, MO. She married Nelson Wood a pilot in the United States Air Force New Year’s Eve 1951 in Crescent City, California. After the war they lived at or near various military bases before settling in Colonial Heights, VA where she raised and cared for her family and plenty of her son’s friends. Carmie is survived by her Son, Bill Wood; her son, Jeff Wood (Darlene); her son Gregg Wood (Debbie); her granddaughter Mary Beth Wood, and grandson Chase Shawn. She is preceded in death by her husband, Nelson Wood, Lt. Colonel, USAF Ret. Her family would especially like to thank Our Lady of the Valley & Good Samaritan Hospice for their love and care. A private memorial will be held in Boones Mill, Virginia. The family is blessed for the condolences and they may be sent in C/O Gregg at P.O. Box 62 Boones Mill, VA, 24065. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Salvation Army.
