Carol Elizabeth Patterson, 63, residing in Hardy, formerly of Hangzhou, China (1997-2007), Marina Del Ray, CA, New York City, and Media, PA. After an extended illness went to be with the Lord on Friday, October 12, 2012. Born in Ridley Park, Pa., on October 10, 1949, Carol graduated with a Bachelor of Science–Fashion Design from Drexel University, studied Filmmaking and Cinematography at New York University, attended The New School in New York City, studied Chinese Studies at UCLA, Interdisciplinary Studies at Walden University, Minneapolis and was currently pursuing her MBA at Drexel University.
Carol Patterson has been a well known name on New York’s Seventh Avenue for over 30 years. Before starting her own company her design accomplishments included numerous famous brand houses. She was Designer and Merchandiser for Rafaella Sportswear, Head Designer for The Hero Group, Vice President of Merchandising & Design for Daklota Stampede, Vice President of Marketing and Merchandising for Global Interactive Marketing, Inc., and President of Design, Development, Sourcing for International China Consultants, Inc. where she developed fashion, purse and jewelry designs and received her own show on Home Shopping Network with Carol Patterson Knits and Carol Patterson Fashions.
Carol spoke basic Chinese. In 1995 she was Press Liaison for National Association of Women Business Owners. In 1995, Carol was a Delegate for National Association of Women Business Owners to United Nations Conference on Women in Beijing, China. In 1996, she was Keynote speaker for United States International Commerce Commission’s Conference at University of Southern California, Los Angeles on “Doing Business in Asia”.
Carol was a proud American and a member of the Women’s Republican Assoc. She loved God, family, friends and country. During her many travels around the world she made numerous friends. Carol was the daughter of the late William Patterson of Media, PA. She is survived by her mother, Betty Jo Hudson, Kansas City, MO and a brother, Randal Patterson and wife Lorraine, Brewster, MA, and nephew, Wyatt Patterson, Media, Pa.; two cousins, Katherine Bloom and her spouse Bill, of Greenacres, WA. and Kirk Golding and his wife, Debra of Bakersfield, CA. She will be missed by everyone – especially by Charles Ellis and Heather who love her and will miss her sunshine always.
A Memorial Service will be conducted at Conner-Bowman on October 26, 2012 at 2:00PM at Conner-Bowman Funeral Home, 62 Virginia Market Place Drive, Rocky Mount, VA.
