Charles David Hotaling, Sr.
(March 18, 1936 – February 24, 2024)
Charlie Hotaling, age 87 of Glade Hill, peacefully passed away Saturday, February 24, 2024 with his son by his side. He was born in Linden, New Jersey on March 18, 1936 and was preceded in death by his parents David Harrison and Louise Castoral Hotaling. He was also preceded in death by his son, William Scott Hotaling; a sister, Jean Hotaling Frantz; and a grandson, Joseph Robert Hotaling.
Surviving are his son, Charles David Hotaling, Jr. (Donna); his daughter, Dorothy Hotaling Snyder (Gerald); two sisters, Joni Hotaling Archibald and Betsy Hotaling Steinman; 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Charlie bravely served his country in the United States Marine Corps from 1955 to 1958 as a Corporal. He was a proud veteran during the Korean War. He was rarely seen out when he was not wearing his Marine Veteran baseball cap.
He was more fondly known to his family as “Pops” or “Grampie” and his extended family called him Uncle Charlie. He loved to garden and share the fruits of his garden with family and friends. He will be missed by all that knew him.
I lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made in Honor of Charlie to Tunnel to Towers Foundation or the Wounded Warrior Project.
Visiting hours will be held at Conner Bowman Funeral Home 62 Virginia Market Place Drive, Rocky Mount, Va. on Tuesday, February 27, 2024 between 7:00pm and 8:00pm. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date in New York for his family.
