Charles “Ron” O'Neal transitioned to his new home over in “Glory”
early Saturday morning, October 28, 2017 at his home.
Ron was born in Rocky Mount, Virginia February 9, 1947 to the late
Dorothy O’Neal. He was preceded in death by his mother and his
father, John E. Woods and his grandmother, Lena Lewis.
He graduated from Grover Cleveland High School in Buffalo, New
York where he excelled in swimming and basketball. Upon
graduation, Ron enlisted in the United States Navy where he served
for four years or more. After serving in the U.S. Navy, he returned
home to Buffalo and enrolled at Buffalo State University. At
Buffalo State, he earned two B.A. degrees--one being in Architecture.
He later earned a Master degree while living in Inglewood, CA.
Ron was a fantastic dancer, a great cook and loved music. He was
also a born artist.
During Ron’s life journey, he resided in Buffalo, NY, Inglewood, CA
and Atlanta, GA. While in Buffalo, NY, the love of his life was
born--Vivian Raquel Crawl (Rocky). During his latter years, he
returned to Franklin County and lived with his brother, JT, for a
while. Upon returning to Franklin County, he joined First Baptist
Church and was baptized July 26, 1992.
Survivors left to cherish his memories are his daughter, “Rocky", and
her mother, Barbara Crawl; grandson, Cameron Young and a greatgrandson,
Maceon Young; a sister, Edith Woods Morgan (Rev. CC
Morgan, Jr.) of Kennesaw, GA; two brothers, John T. Woods of
Rocky Mount, VA, Roy B. Woods (Angela) of Fort Washington,
MD and a host of loving nieces, nephews, many cousins and friends.
