Charles R. Peters

Charlie R. Peters, Jr., age 85 of Ferrum, went to be with the Lord Friday August 25, 2017. Charlie was born November 20, 1931 to the late Charlie R. Peters, Sr. and Emma Sarah Wade Peters. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter Deborah L. “Debi” Peters; sister Emma Isola Peters; and his beloved cat Oreo. Charlie was a member of Maple Grove United Methodist Church. During his career, he held various management positions at Stanley and American Furnitues and Sharpening and Accounting Business. Charlie loved numbers, woodworking, gardening and making things beautiful. He especially loved children and animals. Charlie was a great husband, father and friend. Surviving is his loving wife Debra H. Peters; sons Charlie R. “Chuck” Peters, III (Laura) of Martinsville, Michael M. Peters of Bassett, Duane “Tony” A. Peters of Bassett; daughter Jamie P. Campbell (Jason) of Rocky Mount; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, his family asks that donations be made to Maple Grove United Methodist Church Building Fund, Carilion Hospice of Franklin County, or to Planned Pethood of Franklin County. Memorial services will be conducted from Maple Grove United Methodist Church 3:00 p.m. Saturday with Rev. Peter Choi officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. His family will be receiving friends from 1-3 p.m. prior the service on Saturday at the church.
