Charles Randolph Shelton

Charlie Randolph Shelton, age 82, of Ferrum, went to be with the Lord Monday, March 29, 2010. Mr. Shelton was born February 13, 1928 to the late William (Tom) T. Shelton, Sr. and Pearle Turner Shelton. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Marie Gillespie Shelton; sister Lucille B. Nester; brother William T. Shelton, Jr. He was a veteran of the US Navy having served from January 24, 1946 to November 28, 1947 and of the US Army having served from August 2, 1949 to September 23, 1952. Surviving are son Gregory R. Shelton; grandsons Jesse J. Shelton, Cody R. Shelton; stepson Odell Midkiff and wife Linda; step-grandson Ronald Scott; brother Ralph Shelton and wife Alberta; two nieces Susie S. Smith and Opal Shelton. Funeral services will be conducted from Lynch Conner-Bowman Funeral Chapel 2:00 p.m. Wednesday with Rev. Winston Crichlow and Rev. Bud Nichols officiating. Interment will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery.
