Christeen Hodges Hartman

Christeen Hodges Hartman, age 86 of Roanoke, passed away Thursday, August 1, 2024, at her home surrounded by her loving family. Christeen was born May 13, 1938, to the late Wilford and Evelyn Wray Hodges. Christeen was an active and devoted member of Monte Vista Church of the Brethren, where she served the Lord and her church family in many capacities through the years. She served as financial secretary, Sunday School teacher, nursery worker, treasurer of the women's fellowship and numerous nominating committees. Her talents were on display when she made elaborate costumes to be worn during various plays at the church. These costumes are still used to this day. Christeen's heart to serve was felt most by her family. No matter what was on her to-do list, she always cared for her family. Whether she was fixing a meal, keeping watch as a caregiver, shopping for the best outfit, or planning the next get-together, her love for each person could not be missed. She loved her Lord and her family.

Surviving is her loving husband of over 64 years, Ray Hartman; sons and daughters-in-law Alan Hartman (Diane), Dale Hartman (Kathy): granddaughters Tabitha Rudy (Dan), Mattie Wertz (Kevin), Randa Hartman and Kortney Hartman: great grandchildren Evelyn and Josie Rudy and great grandson to be Jacob Wertz; step grandchildren Colleen and Catie Wertz; sister and brother-in-law Marilyn Donahue (Leonard); brother and sister-in-law Ray Willie Hodges (Shirley); sister in-law Peggy Hartman; numerous nieces and nephews.

The family extends a heartfelt thank you to the caregivers and chaplain from Carilion Hospice and caregivers Lisa Turman and Marilyn Donahue, her sister and best friend.

In lieu of flowers, her family requests that donations be made to Monte Vista Church of the Brethren.

Funeral Services will be conducted 12 noon Monday at Monte Vista Church of the Brethren with Pastor Dan Rudy and Pastor Gina Wright-Hawkins officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
