Christine Sloan

Mary Christine Sloan age 81 of Rocky Mount passed away on Friday, August 19, 2016 in Lewis-Gale Medical Center. She was dedicated to her family and was loving, caring and trust worthy person. She was a Godly Christian lady in which God always came first; however, her family was her heart and soul. As someone who always put others first she was thoughtful, kind and a generous person who will truly be missed but never forgotten. She was born on June 29, 1935 a daughter of the late Bill and Mary Moore Hall. She was also preceded in death by her husbands, Alton Maxey, Sr. and Lawrence Sloan; children, Jerry Maxey, Larry Maxey, Loretta Mason and Linda Webb; and her siblings, Ruby Angell, Goldie Bailey, Junior Hall and Tressie Beckner. She is survived by her children, Alton Maxey, Jr. (Mary), Curtis Maxey (Wanda) and Lonnie Maxey; grandchildren, Mary Joan Maxey, B.J. Webb, Marcia Cramblitt (Joey), Mark Beckner and Rebecca Faulkner; great-grandchildren, Alaya Cook, Dakota Cramblitt and Samantha Jones; sister, Starrine Pugh; son-in-law, Barry Webb; sister-in-law, Aideen Collins. She is also survived by many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Monday, August 22, 2016 from Lynch Conner-Bowman Funeral Home with Pastor John W. Collins officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Grove Church of the Brethren Cemetery.
