Claude J. Cooper

Claude Jackson Cooper, Sr., age 87, of Rocky Mount, VA passed away Saturday, April 1, 2017. He was born March 24, 1930 the son of the late William “Will” Jackson Cooper and Pearl Maude Martin Cooper. Mr. Cooper was a member of Furnace Creek Baptist Church since 1978. He enjoyed reading and studying the Bible and visiting with his church family. He was an avid hunter and fisherman; he was also an accomplished fiddle player. Surviving are his wife of 62 years, Shirley Rector Cooper; daughter, Marcia Cooper-LeMaster (Michael); two sons, Greg Cooper (Sebrina), Jackie Cooper; five grandchildren, Justin, Levi, Beatrice, Amelia, Zachary; sister, Edith Heatherly (Broaddus). Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 P.M. Monday at Lynch Conner Bowman Funeral Home with Rev. Philip Bramblet officiating. Interment will follow in the Cooper Family Cemetery, Callaway. The family will receive friends Monday afternoon from 1:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
