Corbie F. “Pete” Peters, age 84 of Rocky Mount, passed away Tuesday, August 7, 2012. He was born March 12, 1928 to the late John Robert Peters and Margaret Ann Ferguson Peters. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters and seven brothers. Pete was a proud veteran of World War II where he served his country in the Army and later in the National Guard. Surviving is his loving wife of 65 years, Vivian Jones Peters; son C. Fred Peters; daughters Kathy Peters Hodges (Wayne), Ruby D. Peters (Jimmy); grandchildren Shana G, Hodges, Charles W. Hodges, and one grandchild on the way; great-grandchildren Margaret Ann Hodges and Corbin S. Brown; special friends Junior and Susie Palmer. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 2840 Electric Rd Ste 106, Roanoke, VA or to Wounded Warrior Project, 1120 G Street NW, Suite 700, Washington, DC 20005. Graveside services with military honors will be conducted from the Jones Family Cemetery 2 p.m. Thursday with Rev. Bud Roth officiating. His family will be receiving friends one hour prior to the service at the cemetery and other times at the home, 353 Round Hill Rd., Rocky Mount, VA 24151.
