David Leonard Huffman

David Leonard Huffman age 72 of Wirtz passed away on Wednesday, February 9, 2022, at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital. David was a kind hearted and loving husband, father, grandfather and brother and was affectionately known as Papa, a title he loved more than anything. He retired from General Electric with over 41 years of service and he could usually be found outside in his garden or on his Massey Ferguson Tractor plowing snow or either in his wood shop as woodworking was a hobby that he truly loved and enjoyed. He is gone too soon but his memory and love for his family will live on forever. You will be missed and always loved! He was born on July 3, 1949 a son of the late Samuel Robert and Violet Annie Huffman. He was the youngest of ten children and in addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his siblings, Ruth Spangler, Catherine Bryant, Billy Huffman, Charlie Huffman, Rozelle Dillon, Joan Falls and Freddie Huffman. Left behind to cherish his memory is his loving and devoted wife, Brenda Huffman; daughters, Lori Whitlow (Glen) and Lottie Portelli (Martin); his grandchildren, Kelsey Dillon-Jamison (Craig), Taylor Dillon (Trey), Tanner Dillon (Taylor), Bryce Whitlow, Christopher Portelli and Jodie Portelli; his great-grandchildren, Callie Jamison, Zoey Portelli and Aaron Portelli and a great-grandson to be born in March, River Poulin. He is also survived by his sister, Ellie Woolwine (Pete); brother, Jimmy Huffman (Samantha); other family members and numerous friends. A Celebration of his life will be conducted 2 p.m. Sunday February13, 2022, at Conner-Bowman Funeral Home with Pastor Rick Poland officiating.
