Lipscombe, Della H., 97, of Mechanicsville and formerly of Franklin County, widow of Hugh D. Lipscombe (founder of Lipscombe Service, Inc. of Mechanicsville), went to meet Jesus on Thursday, January 4, 2018. She was a loving and caring mother and was an inspiration to all who knew her. Mrs. Lipscombe is survived by her daughter, Patricia C. Clark (James), of Sandston; granddaughter, Trisha Jean King and great-grandson, Cullen King, both of Orange Springs, Florida; grandson, Larry G. “Buddy” Williams, II (Jo), of Mechanicsville; and great-granddaughter, Katelyn Williams, of King William. She is also survived by her step-daughters, Susan Bowlby (Don) and Janet Yeager; step-grandchildren, Donald Floyd Bowlby (Jill) and their children, Danielle and Timothy; Jeffrey Davis Bowlby (Nicole), and their children, Christopher, Jonathan, and Lauren; Katharine Yeager; Michael August Yeager (Leigh), and their sons, Matthew and Thomas; and Joseph Andrew Yeager (Joy), and their children Caitlyn and Ryan, all of Pennsylvania. Mrs. Lipscombe was a long-time member of Mechanicsville Church of Christ in Mechanicsville. She retired from Miller & Rhoads Department Store in downtown Richmond after 35 years of service, where she spent most of her service as fur buyer for all of the Miller & Rhoads stores. After retirement, she became a very accomplished artist and sold hundreds of oil paintings, most of which remain in the Hanover area. The family will receive friends Monday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Mechanicsville Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 8014 Lee-Davis Rd. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, January 9, 2018 at Gethsemane Church of Christ, 5146 Mechanicsville Tnpk., Mechanicsville, with interment to follow in the church cemetery.
