Delphia Maude Carroll

Delphia Maude “Dale” Sloan Carroll, age 88, of Rocky Mount, VA passed away Saturday, December 20, 2014. She was born July 2, 1926 the daughter of the late Thomas Millard Sloan and Berta Maude Saul Sloan. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert Scott Carroll, Jr. She was also preceded in death by one sister and six brothers. She attended Ferrum Junior College and graduated from UVA School of Nursing. Surviving are three sons, Robert Scott Carroll, III (Donna), Grover MacLohon Carroll (Dorothy), and John Sloan Carroll; four grandchildren, Nicole Carroll Wixted (Alexander), Nathaniel Carroll, Ryan Carroll, Mariel Carroll; two great grandchildren, Sloane Alexa Wixted and Silas Everett Wixted; her great loving sister and caretaker, Jessie Brown; sister, Nell Meade; brother, Berkley Sloan; loving niece, June Altice; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. The family would like to thank Franklin Healthcare Center and Carilion Franklin Memorial Hospice; special caregivers, Beatrice Patterson, Mary Moore; and others who assisted with her care. Graveside services will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Tuesday at High Street Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday night from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Lynch Conner Bowman Funeral Home.
