DeWynn (D.C.) Adams, veteran and loving father, died peacefully in his home on January 8, 2025.
In addition to his parents, Mary and Merit Adams and sister Sammy Burnette, D.C. was preceded in death by his wife, Wanda Adams and his granddaughter Maisie E. Adams.
DeWynn is survived by his sons, Ryan Adams (Amber), Gene Switzer (Mary), David Switzer; His brothers, Wilber Adams (Margaret) and Canie Adams (Nancy); and several nephews.
D.C. grew up on a farm in Moneta where he attended Moneta High School and played basketball. Eventually, D.C. would leave Moneta to join the United States Air Force where he served in Germany as a jet engine mechanic.
Further in his life, D.C. began working for Appalachian Power Co as a substation mechanic where he would eventually retire.
D.C. was a rugged, stubborn man with a soft heart and is loved by many. He shared his love for motorcycles with his brothers that brought them on many adventures. D.C’s admiration for bluegrass music and dancing led him to his wife Wanda in the late 90’s.
In his later days, he enjoyed spending time with his family, swinging on the front porch, and drinking Michelob Ultra with a splash (or two) of tomato juice.
With Ryan by his side, D.C. accepted the Lord as his savior during his last few days of life.
The family asks that flowers be omitted and to please consider memorial contributions to Orchard Hills Church, 6032 Cloverdale Road, Roanoke, VA 24019 in his name.
A celebration of his life will be conducted on Saturday, January 25, 2025 at Orchard Hills Church, 6032 Cloverdale Road, Roanoke, VA 24019 with Pastor Sutton Wirt officiating.
