Dillard (Chinese) Cannaday was born on Sept. 13, 1939 in Ferrum, VA and passed away on Oct. 22, 2015. He was surrounded by the sounds of laughter of the many life stories as recalled by his family.
He was famous for his love of life, sports, recreational activities and love for his family. He was always involved with family events and possessed the unique ability to make all family functions a cherished event. He never met a stranger and was accomplished at making life fun for his family (brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, great nieces, nephews, aunts, and to all who knew him.
Chinese loved to laugh and his legacy will be passed on for generations.
He was preceded in death by his parents William Washington Cannaday and Allie Chaney Cannaday; three brothers Donald, Billy Wayne and Maynard Cannaday. Surviving are his sisters Helen Cannaday of the home and Mable Cannaday Prillaman of Oak Level; a special aunt Lera Hale and special nephew Donald Buster Cannaday; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted from Lynch Conner- Bowman Funeral Home (Town Chapel) 2 p.m. Sunday with Pastors Mike Magnani, Billy Shively and Belle Robertson officiating. Interment will follow in Republican Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. His family will be receiving friends one hour prior to the service on Sunday from 1-2 p.m. at Lynch Conner-Bowman Funeral Home, 140 Floyd Ave., Rocky Mount, VA 24151. (540)483-5533
