On December 9, 2014, we lost our beautiful 87 year young Mom and Mee-Maw, Dixie Lee Bernard Cooper to heart failure. Dixie was born November 2, 1927 in Union Hall, Virginia, a daughter of the late Clayton Beverly and Marye Blankenship Bernard. She was the loving wife to the late Leonard Herrick Cooper for 46 years. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Kenneth Aubrey Bernard.
She is survived by her daughter, Mitzi K. Cooper Tomlin, Amherst; her son, Herrick Beverly Cooper, Miami, Florida; grandchildren, Loren H. and Sheri Tomlin, Amherst, Kimberly G. Cooper, Seattle, Washington, Timothy C. Cooper, Miami, Florida; her great-granddaughter, Casey J. Tomlin, Amherst; her great-grandson, Michael E. Cooper, Miami, Florida; a few cousins, nieces, nephews and several long-time Union Hall friends.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, December 13, 2014 from 12:00 noon until 2:00 p.m. at Lynch Conner-Bowman Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be conducted from Lynch Conner-Bowman Funeral Home Chapel following the visitation at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Rick Poland officiating. Interment will follow in the Bernard Family Cemetery on Old Salem School Road in Union Hall.
