Doctor Rufus Brown, Sr. “Doc” age 82 of Moneta went to be with the Lord on July 9, 2018. Doc was a retired Mill Wright. He was preceded in death by his parents, Rufus and Sallie Dillon Brown; brothers, Harrison, Wilber, Edward, Warren, Tyler, Blackie, and Jake Brown; one sister, Barbara Bruce.
Surviving to cherish his memory are his wife of 45 years, Gennie Lynn Brown; daughters and sons-in-law, Tammie Prather and Willie Holland, Pattie and Jamie Fish; Sons and daughters-in-law, Rufus Brown and Heather Gardner, J. D. Brown and Justine Luck; Eleven grandchildren, Tylor Brown, Dakota, Shane and Lawrence Parton, Macala, Madison and Dylan Brown, Patience Prather, Jackson and Jacob Brown, Hunter York; one great-grandchild, Ezekiel Parton; Brothers and sisters-in-law, Curtis Brown, Joe and Susan Brown; Sisters and Brothers-In-Law, Hettie and Jackie Minter, Juanita and Danny Custer, Zelma Reed; and many nieces, nephews; special friends, Don Lipscomb and Bobby Kelly. A special thanks to Helen and the staff of Carilion Hospice. In lieu of flowers, his family asks that donations be made to Scruggs Volunteer Rescue Squad.
