Donald E. Cooper

Donald Edward “Donnie” Cooper, age 66 of Ferrum died Friday, March 30, 2012 after a short battle with cancer. Donnie will be remembered for his “handyman” abilities, a man that could truly do anything he set his mind to, a man that loved his family especially his grandchildren. His loving spirit will last forever. Donnie was born January 21, 1946, a son of the late James and Josie Cooper. He was also preceded in death by a son, T.K. Allen; brothers-in-law, Leonard Beckner and Jay Hugh Lynch; and his mother-in-law Mildred Crum who died just a little over five hours after his death. He is survived by his loving wife of 34 years Susan Cooper; his sons, Dean Allen and fiancé Jenna, Don Allen (Kim) and Robert Allen (Bonnie); nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild; brother Wayne and Margie Cooper; sisters Mary Beckner, Nancy and J.C. Amos and Ruby Lynch; sister-in-law, Ann Young (Clinton); many nieces, nephews, other relatives and special friends including Jerry Greer and Randy Jones. Funeral services will be conducted from Lynch Conner-Bowman Funeral Chapel 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 3, 2012 with Rev. Randy Rigney and Rev. Roger Jones officiating. Interment will follow in Mountain View Memorial Park. The Cooper Family will receive friends Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home and other times and the home of Don and Kim Allen, Prillaman Switch Road, Ferrum.
