Doris Yvonne Boitnott

Doris Yvonne Boitnott, 70, of Castlewood, VA, passed away on January 27, 2025 in Abingdon, VA. 

Born on August 14, 1954, to Howard Wesley and Elsie Jacqueline Feazelle Boitnott, she was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, David Lewis. She is survived by her sister, Kitty Jean Boitnott of Glen Allen, VA and her loving partner and caretaker, Charlie Collins of Castlewood, VA.

Doris was an educator at heart her entire adult life. She started her teaching career teaching English at George Washington High School in Danville, VA before moving to Roanoke, VA where she joined the faculty at Glenvar Junior High School before transferring to Cave Spring High School. She taught English at Cave Spring for ten years before joining the UniServ Staff of the Virginia Education Association as a UniServ Director serving Roanoke County, Alleghany County, and the City of Covington. She later served as the Assistant Director of Government Relations and an Organizing Specialist working out of the VEA Headquarters in Richmond, VA.

Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 AM Saturday, February 1, 2025 at Conner-Bowman Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Mountain View Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
