Dorothy "Dot" Rector McMinnis

Dorothy (Dot) Rector McMinnis, age 91, of Rocky Mount passed away Friday, July 19, 2013 in Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital. She was born June 27, 1922 the daughter of the late George Rector and Bertha Altice Rector. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ollie Robert McMinnis; sister, Peggy Boles; half sister, Lou R. Harlan; half brother, Leo Rector; special friend, Earl Stultz. She attended Rocky Mount High School; was a faithful member of Furnace Creek Baptist Church for over 50 years and recently attended Franklin Heights Baptist Church. Surviving are her daughter Judy Dillon and husband, Jerry; son, Robert McMinnis and wife, Sandra; grandson, Jeff Altice; two granddaughters, Connie Taylor (Tim), Ashley Duffey (Sandy); one step granddaughter; six great grandchildren, Courtney Taylor and fiance, John P. Turbyfill, Ryan Taylor, Madison Altice, Jacob Altice, Ashley Taylor, Tyler Duffey; one step great granddaughter; two sisters, Shirley Cooper (Claude), Ruby Frye; brother-in-law, Percy Boles (Jeannette); numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 P.M. Monday at Conner Bowman Funeral Home with Dr. Richard Harrell and Dr. Stan Parris officiating. Interment will follow in Franklin Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Monday from 1:00 to 2:00 P.M. before the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Boones Mill Fire and Rescue Squad.
