Dorothy Dene Underwood

Dorothy Dene Underwood age 92 of Ferrum passed away on Wednesday, November 20, 2024 in the local hospital. She was born on March 19, 1932 a daughter of the late William Jackson and Florence Chrisley Allison. She was also preceded in death by her loving husband of 60 years, Thomas Buford Underwood; son, Carlton Earl Stoots; daughter, Sandra Marie Chatting; and two grandsons, Kevin Stoots and Stacey Stoots.

Dot was one of nine children with four siblings remaining now. When her husband retired in 1988 she decided that she needed to go to work. Her Walmart co-workers said she was the sweetest lady ever. She retired early due to her stroke and caring for her babe.

She is survived by her daughter, Diane U. Myers (Rodney Saul); son, Gary E. Stoots (Terry "T.C."); grandchildren, Travis Myers, Troy Myers, Robert Stoots and Heather Ellenburg; great grandbabies, Logan Myers, Dorothy Myers, Jaelyn Orr and Caden Goodman. She is also survived by her siblings, Charles Allison, Ruth Arnold, Phyliss Alley and Faye Carter; her very special friend and caregiver who would always come to her rescue, Claudine James.

Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 AM Saturday, November 23, 2024 at Conner-Bowman Funeral Home with Pastor Rick Poland officiating. Interment will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery. Her family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 10:30 AM.
