Dorothy Amos Washburn

Dorothy Marie Amos Washburn, age 80, of Penhook, VA passed away Saturday, May 3, 2014. She was born October 12, 1933 the daughter of the late John Buck Amos, Sr. and Lola Mae Mitchell Amos. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph B. “Joe” Washburn, III and a grandson, Jeffery Stegall. She and her late husband own and operated Washburn Grocery and Garage for many years. Surviving are six children, Rodney Michael Washburn, Barry Dean Washburn (Robin), Brent Kempton Washburn (Robin), Jennifer Leigh Skinner (Tim), Constance “Connie” Washburn-Marsh (Harry), Joseph Bryan Washburn, IV (Bonnie); grandchildren, Presley Jolee Washburn, Megan Elizabeth Washburn, Joseph Michael Washburn, Amy Lynn Washburn, Rhonda Kaye Hambrick, Jessica Blake Washburn, Samantha Danielle Washburn, Rebecca Mae Fletcher, Tammy Denise Milby, Ryan Gregory Marsh, Harry Lee Marsh, III, Stephanie Lynn Skinner, Raymond Marsh; great grandchildren, Joseph Thomas Waring Bennett, Lindsay Michelle Bennett, Nathan William Walter Bennett, Triton Lee Webb, Sarah Madison Stegall, Madison Fletcher, Ryan Fletcher, Blake Kevin Milby, Heather Marie Marsh, Rebecca Leigh Marsh; two sisters, Barbara Goins (Connie), Gloria Custer; brother, Johnny Amos. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Wednesday at Snow Creek Christian Church with Rev. Jim Compton officiating. Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday night from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Snow Creek Christian Church, 4970 Snow Creek Road, Martinsville, VA 24112 .
