Dossie Powell Kennett

Dossie Powell Kennett, 91, of Glade Hill passed away on Friday, April 18, 2014 after a brief illness. She was born March 26, 1923 in Franklin County, daughter of the late Oliver and Annie Powell. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Ferris Chitwood Kennett; father and mother-in-law Kelly and Lucy Kennett; brother and sister-in-law Silas Glenwood Powell and Carrie; sister and brother-in-law Vera Powell Dent and Junior; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Christine and Buck Bradley, Walter Chilman and a special nephew Matt Nichols. Mrs. Kennett, retired from Franklin County Public Schools. Surviving to cherish her memory are; her daughter Bonnie Kennett of the residence and special friend Frank Quesenberry of Glade Hill; son and daughter-in-law Ronnie and Gina Kennett of Rocky Mount; grandson Bradley Kennett; brothers and sisters-in-law Ira and Elsie Powell, Dennis and Janice Powell, sister in law Elizabeth Chilman and many nieces and nephews. Dossie loved her home and remained in her home with her daughter Bonnie, her caregiver until her recent illness. She enjoyed her garden, pretty flowers, her cats Blackie and Sissy and the cows grazing in the pasture. Flowers will be accepted or donations can be made to the Matt Nichols Scholarship Fund at Franklin County High School. Funeral Services will be conducted from the Lynch Conner Bowman Chapel on Monday, April 21, 2014 at 2 p.m. with the Elder Mark Terry, Walter Hughes Jr. and Chaplain Rick Poland officiating.
