Earnest “Sherrill” Callahan, age 73, went to be with the Lord Wednesday May 20 at his home in Ferrum. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert H. and Myrtle A. Callahan; Brother, Donald R. Callahan: Sister, Barbara “Bobbi” Callahan; and a Great-Grandchild, Eli A. Dooley. Mr. Callahan served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He enjoyed farming, his horses, and loved his family, especially his grandkids and great-grandkids.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Frances A. Callahan; son & daughter-in-law, Mike and Debbie Callahan; daughter and son-in-law Lisa A. & Cliff Garrison; four wonderful grand-children, Allen, Alycia, Catherine and Brittany; & special great-grandchildren, Lacey, Ethan, Brooklyn, Blaine, Dylan, & Cole. He is also survived by his brother, Robert Mike Callahan (Carolyn) and many special nieces and nephews, cousins, & friends. Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to your local rescue squad.
Funeral Service will be 11:00 am Friday, May 22, 2015 at Conner-Bowman
Funeral Home (Route 220 @ Wirtz Road). Interment will follow in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park in Roanoke, Virginia. His family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm Thursday at the Funeral Home.
