Eugene A. “Big O” Turner, age 68 of Wirtz, went to be with the Lord Sunday, January 1, 2017. He was born February 13, 1948 to the late Curtis and Eula Turner. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister Shelby Ayers. Mr. Turner loved his family and enjoyed mowing his grass and playing cards. Surviving is his wife of 51 years Ellen Musgrove Turner; two sons and daughter-in-law Charlie Turner, Ben (Donna) Turner; three daughters and son-in-law Elaine (Dexter) Bousman, Ella Marie Barrett, and Charlotte Turner; three sisters and brothers-in-law Phyllis (Donny) Davis, Judy Pruitt, Frances (Wayne) Pruitt; eight grandchildren Ashley Bousman, Albert Barrett, Jr., Alex Turner, Amber Barrett, Dylan Turner, Justin Barrett, Chase Turner and Kaitlyn Bousman; six great-grandkids Khloe Manning, Kaylee Manning, Kameron Manning, Kelsea Manning, Isabella Barrett, and Brooklynn; lots of nieces and nephews; and his companion Odie.
Funeral services will be conducted from Lynch Conner-Bowman Funeral Home (Town Chapel) 2 p.m. Wednesday, January 4, 2017 with Rev. Ricky Smithers officiating. Interment will follow in Old Liberty Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-9 p.m. Tuesday at Lynch Conner-Bowman Funeral Home, 140 Floyd Ave., Rocky Mount. www.lynchconnerbowman.
