Eva Ferguson Leffue

Eva Ferguson Leffue, 92, of Altavista, passed peacefully from the arms of her loved ones to the arms of her Heavenly Father on September 3, 2011. Born in Ferrum, VA on August 1, 1919, she was preceded in death by her husband Harry Leffue, parents Charles and Lorena Ferguson, 5 sisters and 4 brothers. She formerly resided in Rocky Mount, VA where she was a member of Hodgesville Pentecostal Holiness Church. She was retired with 32 years of service from Bassett Furniture Industries. She was fondly known as, "The Cake Lady", in Rocky Mount. We say farewell down here to a loving Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, Sunday School teacher, lay minister, prayer warrior and a lady who gave of her time and resources to others. She leaves to treasure her precious memory her four daughters, Gladys Herndon, of Hurt, VA, Iris L. Dawson (Paul) of Altavista, VA, Alice Horn (Terry) of Johnson City, TN, Norma Leffue of Rocky Mount; one son, Curtis W. Leffue (Shirley) of Hurt, VA; grandchildren, Christie Dawson of Hurt, VA, Dawn Feagin (Kenneth) of Charleston, SC, Julie Numer (Dominic), Orville, OH, Jared Leffue of Altavista, VA, Brad Horn (Shannon) of McGuire AFB, NJ, Dallas Horn, Lynchburg, VA; and 12 great-grandchildren; special niece, Garnette Fitzgerald of Rocky Mount, VA; and many other nieces and nephews. The family would like to express their love and appreciation to her caregiver, Betty J. Miller, her church family/friends for their prayers and support and to the doctors/staff at Lynchburg General Hospital and Virginia Baptist Hospital. Funeral services will be conducted from Hurt Pentecostal Holiness Church on Monday, September 5, 2011 at 7 pm, with Rev. Kirby Phillips, Rev. Mark Hopkins and Rev. Tim Lane officiating. Burial will be private in Ferrum. The family will receive friends Sunday, September 4, 2011 from 1 to 3 p.m. at Conner-Bowman Funeral Home, Route 220 @ Wirtz Road and also prior to the service on Monday, September 5, 2011 from 5 pm to 7 pm at Hurt Pentecostal Holiness Church, Hurt, VA.
