Everett A. Lancaster

Everett A. Lancaster (Rooster) of Boones Mill passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 6, 2014 at the age of 98 at Franklin Health & Rehab Center in Rocky Mount. Everett was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Preceding him in death were two brothers and four sisters. Everett is survived by his wife of 68 years, Lois Lancaster; two sons, Melvin Lancaster and wife Carolyn, and Ken Lancaster and wife Rhonda; two daughters, Debbie Harris and husband Jimmy, and Linda Lancaster; 5 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren. Everett retired in 1981 as a construction superintendent for THOR, Inc. He continued to work well into retirement during the 1990’s, and in spare time could always be found tinkering in his workshop, or gardening on the land he proudly purchased in 1948 and made into a home with Lois. The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff and residents at Franklin Health & Rehab Center in Rocky Mount for becoming Everett’s second family since February 2010. Everett was fondly known as “Rooster” or “Mr. Lan” to those there that cared for and knew him. Also much appreciation to Pastor Bob Miller and the congregation of Boones Mill Church of The Brethren for their visits and spiritual support. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 10, 2014 from Conner-Bowman Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Robert Miller officiating. Interment will follow in Franklin Memorial Park.
