Flora R. Morris

Flora R. Morris, age 87 of Rocky Mount, passed away Friday, May 14, 2010. She was the daughter of the late Nat and Hattie Davis Morris and stepdaughter of the late Pat Shein Morris. Ms. Morris was a 1943 graduate of Madison College (James Madison University) and was a former teacher. She was retired owner and partner of N. Morris Department Store. She was a member of Rocky Mount United Methodist Church, charter member and past Matron of the Rocky Mount Order Eastern Star #141, member of Carilion Franklin Memorial Hospital Ladies Auxillary and Mended Hearts Rocky Mount #148.Surviving is her family by choice, Reva Hutcherson (wife of the late George Hutcherson, Sr.), George Hutcherson Jr. and wife Sylvia and their daughters Katie and Molly; Dr. Francis Amos and wife Laquita and their children Frank, Susan, Chris, John and six grandchildren. The family asks that donations be made to the Franklin County Historical Society, 460 S. Main St., Rocky Mount, VA 24151, whom Ms. Morris recently donated her home to. Graveside services will be conducted from High Street Cemetery 4:00 p.m. Sunday with Dr. J. Wesley Inge officiating.
