May 26, 1949 – August 18, 2021, Floyd “Skip” William Ordway, Jr. 72, of Wirtz, Va. went into eternal rest at Roanoke Memorial Hospital on Wednesday, August 18, 2021. Skip was born in Newport, New Hampshire on May 26, 1949, and lived his last 34 years in Wirtz, Virginia. He was a loving, caring, and generous brother and uncle. After a life altering motor vehicle accident at age 10, Skip has battled to overcome many adversities through his life. Skip proved himself and to everyone else that his disabilities did not hold him back and demonstrated on numerous accomplishments including graduating from Hesser College in Manchester, NH in 1981. He is now at peace with his best friend, mother, Jane Emerson Ordway his father, Floyd W. Ordway, Sr. and sister, Lori Jane Ordway. He is survived by his sister and best friend, Lana Ordway, of Wirtz; his brother and sisters-in-law, Bruce Ordway and his wife, Barbara, of Fredericksburg, David Ordway and his wife, Heidi, Chesapeake, Fred Ordway, of Litchfield, NH, and Neil Ordway and his wife, Dana, of Wirtz; and numerous nieces nephews. A memorial Celebration of Life will be conducted at the graveside, Old Liberty Cemetery in Wirtz, on Friday, August 27, 2021, at 11 a.m. with the Pastor Rick Poland officiating. Following the graveside service, the family will receive friends at the Ordway Home, 4994 Wirtz Rd (Next to the cemetery). The family will accept flowers at the home. The family would like to thank the ICU and PCU staff at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital for the outstanding professionalism and care.
