Francis L. Slough

Francis L. Slough, Sr., age 83 of Rocky Mount, went to be with the Lord Saturday, September 12, 2015. He was born January 21, 1932 to the late Elmer and Clara Slough. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister Katherine Duhanel; a brother Hansford Slough; father-in-law and mother-in-law Ike and Viola Brubaker; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Lewis and Betty Brubaker, George Brubaker, Mary and Elmer Lucas, and Homer Graham. Mr. Slough was as member of Franklin Heights Baptist Church. He was retired from Blue Ridge Transfer and was a school bus driver for Franklin County Public Schools. Surviving is his loving wife of 54 years Lorine Slough; his sons and daughters-in-law F.L. Slough, Jr. and wife Jessica, Melvin Slough and wife Rebecca, and Kevin Slough and wife Susan; grandchildren Lindsey, Austin, Lauren, Brandon, Megan, Cameron, Zander, Ryan and Zachary; brothers Henry Boyce Slough, Jimmy Slough and Carl Slough; sister Barbara Jean Sloan; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Henry and Peggy Brubaker, Ruth Graham, Ruby Wells, Betty and Henry Wagner, Marie Brubaker, Gracie and Jesse Mullins, Norene Brubaker; special friends Jackie Fuller and Melvin Barbour; many nieces and nephews. His family would especially like to thank Dr. Vandana Karri, Dr. Son Nguyen and the Infusion Center at Lewis Gale Hospital. In lieu of flowers, his family asks that donations be made to the Franklin Heights Baptist Church Building Fund, 110 Hilltop Dr., Rocky Mount, VA 24151. Funeral services will be conducted from Franklin Heights Baptist Church 11:00 a.m. Tuesday with Dr. Stan Parris officiating. Interment will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens.
